    English, Class of 1976

SFSU has always offered courses in education and other practical subjects, like metalwork, drafting, etc.

BA Social Work, Class of 1978

The Social Work program was excellent

    5 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    English/Creative Writing, Class of 1990

Then? That was 1986 - 1990. I don't remember much of anything, except for lottos workshop talk about how hard it was to have a "career" as a writer.

Cellular and molecular biology, Class of 2013

Students and Culture

What letter grade would you give the students/culture at your school?

3.5 Based on 6 Reviews
  • Alumni
    English, Class of 1976

It's a commuter school so not much social life on campus, but everyone takes their studies seriously.

    3 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    History, Class of 2009

it's pretty interesting giving diverse SF culture; many many student organizations, but relatively not developed fraternity culture

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
BA Social Work, Class of 1978

Diversified, friendly. SW program was small so you ran into the same groups of people

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    English/Creative Writing, Class of 1990

At that time, SFSU was considered a "commuter school" for people who were older than normal college age. Not very many people lived on campus -- there wasn't much of a campus culture in that sense. There was a big racial and ethnic variety, and a wide age range. Political awareness and involvement. This was a long time ago.

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Lighting design, Class of 1988

    mixed bag of commuter students

    3 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
Cellular and molecular biology, Class of 2013

Very laid back, considered a "commuter school" not much of a student body and very little students participating in on campus activites

labs, new library, health center, but some buildings and classrooms are outdated. some are new.

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
BA Social Work, Class of 1978

Don't remember using computer labs (if there were any). Didn't live in the dorms.

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    English/Creative Writing, Class of 1990

I have no idea now. They've remodeled and expanded everything since I was there. When I was there, not everyone used a computer -- a lot of people still used a typewriter.

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
Cellular and molecular biology, Class of 2013

Some classrooms were outdated but we're currently being remodeled. The brand new library is fantastic! The dining services were pretty good and the dorms were subpar, as dorms tend to be
